EDGY’s NOT DeAD…

… but it is over.

You haven’t heard from me on this platform in quite a while and that’s because many things have changed and are changing in my life. The main one:

After four fun years of EDGY, I’m wrapping up my business and saying goodbye to the world of language coaching.

This final and very long newsletter contains the following bits:

THE PERSONAL BIT: A small life update from me and why I’m ending EDGY.

THE SALES BIT: Your chance to grab my courses and materials at a reduced price.

THE BIT THAT’S ABOUT OTHERS: Colleagues I recommend if you want to keep working on your English.

So let’s dive right in:

THE PERSONAL BIT

Building this business and working as a self-employed creative coach has been fun but als intensely challenging.

I started EDGY right out of the pandemic and right after spending thousands on my master’s degree in English teaching and my coaching license. The internet was awash with guides and gurus that were full of promises like “Do this and attract dream clients effortlessly!”, “Do that and sell out your coaching programmes every time!”.

And I did it all. By myself. If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know that I built and ran my own website, self-study online course, Instagram live help clinic for English questions, blog, newsletter, and created countless posts on Instagram and LinkedIn, a personality quiz with self-study resources, several conference presentations, webinars, a five-day email course, a four-week online group programme, EDGY collaging nights, a B2B workshop programme… the list goes on.

And while I’m so grateful for all of the wonderful clients and companies that found me and so proud of everything I created, and even though I know it’s looked crazy successful on the outside, I never reached a point where business and income were stable enough to live a life worth living off of my coaching practice. For me personally, I’ve concluded that in this economy, it is simply too hard to be self-employed as a service provider, especially when you’re working against debt. So, that’s why I’ve chosen to give it up and am choosing a safer road.

I’m very happy to announce that I’ve found a very good new job: From November on, I’ll be working as an Executive Assistant at Fielmann Group. Surprised? Hehe, yes, so am I to be honest. But I already know Fielmann from teaching Business English there years ago and it’s a very good company, a fair employer, and full of nice and positive people.

THE SALES BIT

So, wait, but what about your English? What should you do now and how do you continue?

Over the past five years, I have put together the best tips, practices, and resources into a variety of formats and this is —no bullshit— your last chance to get them.

The core of EDGY, the gem, nay, the crown jewel is my 4-week group-coaching programme Express your Self, which you can now do as a self-study course. It was designed to get you from feeling unsure and weird about your English to feeling confident and like you can do anything, no matter what language you speak. I ran it four times and everyone who’s done it went through a powerful transformation. Read more about it here.

I’m selling everything at a much lower price for the next two weeks only, until 07 November. You will have access to anything you download forever, and to online materials hosted on my website until May 2026, when I take the site down.

Here’s what’s on offer (more details when you follow the links!)

COURSES:

Express your Self: self-study programme with videos & workbook. 79 EUR

Plan your Progress: email course with video lessons. 19 EUR

Telling anecdotes: masterclass training with phrase bank. 9 EUR

OTHER STUFF:

EDGY Collaging Packs: pack of premium curated collaging materials hand-made by me, for collaging at home. 27 EUR

Or… just buy me a cup of coffee. If you’ve enjoyed this newsletter, my online content, or my general vibe, you can also use this cheeky PayPal link to just send me a little tip and I can buy a cup of coffee and think of you. 🖤

THE BIT THAT’S ABOUT OTHERS

This is the part where I’m happy to recommend to you a small number of trusted and capable colleagues who you can contact for further English coaching and training, in Hamburg and online:

Vincent Wongaiham-Petersen: Vincent is a dear friend. He’s based in Hamburg and works online and offline. He was my guest on the EDGY Expert Advice series so you can meet him here if you like! Vincent has a ton of experience working across all industries in Business English and excels at groups as well as 1:1. In addition to English, he also teaches Tagalog (Filipino). Contact him via his company website here.

Sabrina Lucidi: A certified Neurolanguage Coach (like me! <3), lovely Sabrina is based in Italy (most of the time). Maybe you remember her from this video series we made together on Instagram (with me speaking Italian, eeek!). Sabrina is an insanely energetic and positive force of nature and will make you feel great about anything you talk to her about in no time. You can contact Sabrina here.

Sarah Brown: Sarah is based in Berlin and loves to work online. She’s a dear friend and incredibly good at teaching 1:1. She knows a lot about coaching as well as everything about movies, and she can support you in reaching your personal language goals. Find an interview with Sarah as well as her contact info here.

Lexical Lab: Lexical Lab is an online language school based out of North London and run by my friend Hugh, who was also a guest on my Expert Advice Series here. Lexical Lab has group and 1:1 classes that teach English in the most effective way: by methodically building functional vocabulary in context. Find their class schedule here.

So… I’m afraid that’s it from me then!

If you want to grab any of the offers above, be quick. I’m on my way out the door!

Take good care of yourself and stay EDGY! 🖤

From Sarah with Love
